Honest, competent garage -- what else ya need? Example -- my brakes were making noise and they could easily have sold me new pads and rotors for $400+. But they said it was just some rust, and if I could tolerate the noise, I should wait until things really did wear out. Honesty like that is hard to come by in the car repair business. My only regret is that they used to be within walking distance of my home, but had to move a few miles away because of a nasty landlord. But they have a terrific shuttle service with a lovely gentleman driver who will take you most anywhere in the area on your own personal schedule. And when he's not shuttling, he comes into the waiting room and offers you coffee!

Herb & the crew at Hometown Garage are the best. On several occasions, they have accommodated my "emergency" repairs, always communicating with me, explaining the problem and charging a fair price. Thye drop me off & pick me up from work, and their waiting room is comfortable. Also, every person I have encountered there has been friendly and professional. Today, Herb was able to fix my car door handle in about 3 minutes and refused to accept money for the repair. A trustworthy mechanic is worth his weight in gold & I've found him!

Brakes stopped working on the way to work (not fun). looked them up online and decided to head over but got lost as i'm new to the area. The guy was nice on the phone and gave me directions. Rear brake lines were totally gone and cost me about $460. Had my car back within 24 hours and works fine now...nice guys and nice shop..def would go back again with more car problems.

Ive been bringing my Honda Accord Hybrid and Toyota Sienna to Hometown Garage for the past two years. Their service is great, and about 2/3rds the cost of local dealers. I particularly like the analytical skills of the owner who is quick to find the root cause of the problem. ( As a mechanical engineer myself, I appreciate that sort of edge) You cant go wrong. These guys have great personal touch of service, and honesty its hard to find. Phil Bartels Lexington, Ma.

I have brake service at Hometown Garage. I got honest advice and reasonable price. The owner gave me very detailed explanation. I am also very happy with the free shuttle service they provided.

A good news, bad news story for Hometown Garage. The bad news, their repaired component failed after about 2 months and I was hundreds of miles away for quite a while, so I had it fixed by a new car dealer ; that repair has lasted longer. Apparently the original failure resulted from an electrical drain in another part of the system. The good news for Hometown Garage's reputation, the dealer probably found the other problem as a result of HG's work; and the dealer's charge for the part of the job that Hometown Garage completed was double what I had paid. Also, I'm confident that if I (in my opinion, unjustifiably) complained to HG, they'd try to work something out, and if I'd been geographically able to take it back that they would have made it good.I still feel that HG gives five star service.

Definitely the place to bring your car for repairs. My boyfriend and I have been bringing our cars here for years; we actually followed Herb here from Arlington. Quick service and great prices. But more important is the honest advice you get from Herb.

Highly recommended, everything they did for me was correctly quoted and worked fine, the advice they gave was helpful. I have relocated and looking for a good mechanic, that is when I thought leaving this review is well deserved.

Great service. Quick response; Clear explanation and demonstration of what the problem was. Polite and respectful of someone who did not have a clue about the cause of the problem. Rates are fair.

I just got my car fixed at this place. I had been having noise and clunking from my front end gradually increase in volume over a year. I originally took it to another shop and they said it was my struts and wanted to charge me $1000 to replace them. I got a recommendation for Hometown Garage from a friend and they diagnosed the problem as something else (I can't remember off hand what it was). It only cost $130 to fix and it completely cleared up all of the clunking. I will highly recommend this shop to anyone who asks.
